Vegan Recipe Club: Top Five Plastic-Free Recipes

This International Plastic Bag Free Day, more people are realising the impact their choices have on the environment more than ever before. People and governments alike are waking up to the fact we all need to take responsibility for our actions if we want to preserve the world for future generations.

Veganism is a sure-fire way to help reduce your impact on the planet, and with recent emphasis on living as sustainably as possible, more people are beginning to move to a plastic-free vegan lifestyle to minimise the footprint they leave.

While it might seem hard at first, using our Plastic Free recipe finder on our recipe site, Vegan Recipe Club, you’ll see there are hundreds of yummy recipes you can make that don’t require any plastic waste at all.

Check out our top five plastic-free recipes below, so you can be sustainably savvy without compromise!

Spicy Bean Burgers

This might be one of the most clichéd vegan meals, but trying to find a plastic-free supermarket bean burger can be harder than it sounds – not to mention they’re double the price of making your own!

These burgers are great for making in advance keeping in the freezer, and they don’t take hours to make like some meal-prep recipes do.

I recommend using this recipe as inspiration when you have left over veggies, spices and sauces as it uses cupboard staples and the flavours can be customised in any way you like – happy cooking!

Traditional Lasagne

If you’re craving some plant-based creamy goodness, don’t be tempted to buy a vegan ready meal in a plastic tray to get your fix.

All the ingredients for this hearty lasagne can be bought plastic free so you can cook up a sustainable storm without compromising on your ethics. We know this recipe is even better than the non-vegan version, but don’t let us be the judge.

Easy Energy Balls

These balls might look small, but they are packed full of natural energy boosting ingredients to keep you going throughout the day.

They only have three ingredients, making them super easy and economical to make – and since they’re packing so much goodness into each small ball, they’re ideal for a mid-morning snack or post-gym-sesh-pick-me-up.

Easy Almond Milk

Plant-milk might seem like one of the toughest hurdles on your journey to living that plastic-free, vegan lifestyle but with our amazing homemade almond milk recipe, you’ll be an unstoppable zero-waste warrior in no time.

This recipe is really easy as long as you plan in advance. The main part of this recipe is allowing the almonds to soak in water for at least 6 hours (or overnight) before blending with water and sweetener.

Swap the almonds for other nuts, oats or even hemp seeds to get make your own dairy and plastic-free milk – easy!

Vegan Cranachan

This traditional Scottish desert might just be the ultimate vegan indulgence, but that doesn’t have to mean non-recyclable packaging and waste! Layered raspberries, whisky cream and toasted oats take this luxurious desert to the next level.

Show off to your friends with this beautiful after-dinner treat – it’s bound to turn heads and start conversations about how easy it is to go vegan and plastic-free…that’s if you can resist eating them all yourself, of course.
