David and Victoria Beckham made the herbivore headlines at the weekend, after announcing they have gone meat-free on their social media.
Both David and Victoria announced they have ditched meat on their own Instagram accounts at the weekend, but have they given up all animal products for good?
They have a combined following of almost 100 million on Instagram, meaning their influence on potential vegans-to-be could be huge!
Victoria, who is married to ex-footballer David Beckham, announced on Saturday that she follows a plant-based diet and is taking vegan supplements daily.
David Beckham also told his followers he hasn’t eaten meat for three weeks shortly after Victoria’s announcement, saying he’s 'never' changed his diet like this before. He said while the change hasn’t been easy, it’s ‘actually enjoyable'.
Courgetti with mushrooms, aubergine with blue cheese, a mango and avocado entree, chickpea salad, veggie soup, smoked watermelon, and sweet potato have been on the menu since going meat-free.
While the blue cheese means he’s not made the full transition to veganism yet, it’s a huge step in the right direction. David Beckham is known as a pro sportsman and fashion icon, so for him to be cutting down on meat speaks volumes.
The same goes for Victoria Beckham, who rose to fame as one fifth of iconic girl band, Spice Girls and has since become a hugely successful fashion designer. Some of her supplements still contain collagen, derived from animals, but taking on a plant-based diet will help grow awareness for meat-free living.
So while David and Victoria might not be vegan yet, they are both putting meat-free living in the spotlight to their huge combined following. We hope they continue to advocate for the lifestyle and transition to veganism soon!
